Dopamine Release
Some of the best things in life are free.
Essentials I gravitate towards when looking for an energy booster..
- Sunlight
Being outside for 10 minutes in daylight can completely shift my priorities. There is something about being outdoors that speaks volumes and can completely turn my mood. Opening the eyes first thing in the morning and absorbing sunlight is an effective way to spike dopamine. Enjoying walks is a great way to do this or a dip in the ocean.
- Music
One of my favorite ways to unwind is to dance as if no one is watching. The incorporation of music into every part of my life has been an active practice for as long as I can remember. I’ve been enjoying creating mood playlists for travel and leisure purposes. Regularly attending concerts or music halls rejuvenates parts of my mind that need it. Music makes me feel light on my feet and can instantly change my energy.
- Education
Only peers close to me would know that daily self-education is crucial in my daily life. Diving into interests keeps an interesting and fresh environment for growth. Growth is what builds my inspiration and motivation. Communication with others keeps optimism flowing and self-education ideas flowing. I like to remind others that your interests don’t have to make sense to others as long as the interest makes sense to you. Acknowledging my interests in R & D on science, philosophy, nature, and spirituality.
- Art
I wrote a guide to understanding art and how multiple formulas of creativity can flow from interpreting art. Feeling liberated to create pulls the outcome of dopamine. I have found myself spending hours at a museum generating inspiration and having to stop what I am doing to lean into the creativity that traces my mind. This comes in many forms and one of the ways I articulate inspiration is by using the notes application whenever an idea comes through me before putting it to creation.
- Sensory
Adding to what I spoke about when leaning into interests curate from a variety of outcomes. Learning about the craft of jewelry making or touching natural elements in nature is an incredible way to ground and be where your feet are. This stops me from what could be going on in my mind and releases any tension that could be built up generating dopamine.
